Project: Country House, Spain
Architect: de Blacam & Meagher
The house is comprised of a two storey volume and a long single storey wing along the length of a swimming pool which overlooks a landscaped valley and the sea beyond. It is based on 3.6m cube in plan and section, constructed of RC columns and beams, infilled with precast beams and terracotta ceramic blocks. The buildings read as a complex of small low buildings and courtyards with external gardens and shaded seating areas. The entrance and rear gardens have been carefully terraced and landscaped using hand cut local stone for the retaining walls to the terraces which are planted with old olive trees and scented wild flowers.
