Introduction

RIAI IRISH ARCHITECTURE AWARDS 2012

The RIAI invites its Members to submit projects which were certified 'practically complete' during the calendar year 2011.

The RIAI Irish Architecture Awards are the main focus in the Institute’s campaign to communicate to the public the variety and quality of contemporary Irish Architecture.

Entry forms can only be registered online and submissions posted in.

  • Submission Date: Friday 20 April 2012 @ 12 noon for A1 Boards and CD’s both clearly marked with name of project and id number.
  • Delivery address: Claudia O’Dwyer, RIAI, 8 Merrion Square, Dublin 2.
  • Please note the information you provide will be used in publicity and publication.
  • Projects that are awarded and commended will form an exhibition, from information on CD, which will be shown throughout Ireland and in London.
  • There will be absolutely no opportunity to alter entry once your submission is made.
  • Projects may be entered for more than one category – follow full entry procedure each time
  • BOTH A1 BOARD AND CD's SHOULD BE MARKED WITH YOUR Order ID NUMBER, NAME OF PROJECT, & CATEGORY  ON THE OUTSIDE OF YOUR PACKAGE
  • ONE BOARD IS SUBMITTED PER CATEGORY, PER ENTRY.

Best Architectural Research Award

This award, is recognising the important contribution made by Irish architects to research relating to the built environment. Practices should submit one A1 Board describing their research project including a 200-word abstract as well as images, graphics and other appropriate illustrations. Research Projects must be not older than three years from commencement of research and must demonstrate an innovative response to current issues of the built environment. The research methodology must be explained and research sponsors should be identified.

Emerging Practice Award

This award was launched by Architecture Ireland in 2011 to recognise an emerging practice that demonstrates innovation in design or a fresh new approach to an existing design problem. Eligible practices have to be formed in the past five years and not have won an RIAI Architecture Award. Practices must submit one A1 Board describing their design approach through one or several projects (built and/or unbuilt).
