This innovative design has extended and reinvented the concept of the urban mews. The interaction of light and space in its high interior 'atrium' reflects the elemental concerns of architecture. The sensitive use of a limited palate of material and colour gives clarity and elegance to both its internal and external expression.

Architects' Comments
The house is located on a narrow mews plot with east/west orientation. A top-lit, double height atrium opens three sides of the house to natural light and creates a third cedar pannelled facade.

Clients' Comments
The original concept was agreed in 30 m inutes with John Meagher over breakfast - he put his unique vision, style and form to my very un-architect like thoughts. My aspirations for Heytesbury Lane were far exceeded by the architects who throughout the construction refined and enhanced the original concept.
