The A13 East India Dock Link is a naturally ventilated road tunnel forming an immportant link from the A13 Canning Tower Flyover to the Isle of Dogs.
As part of the Highways Infrastructure Programme, the A13 East India Dock Link develops a number of themes common to projects on the highway corridor.
The curved canopy over the tunnel portal, relates to the curved roofs of the Limehouse Link Tunnel service buildings. A series of standard details and common materials covering retaining walls, verges, lamp standards were developed to provide an imagery for the area.
The service building, which contains primary electrical switching and transformers, is located beneath a heavily planted earth berm.
