Mews Houses, Clyde Lane

Citation

Dublin - Over £200,000

The location is a single-sided, south-facing lane overlooking Herbert Park. The brief was to convert a stone mews into two independent units, one a house for a businessman, the other a house and studio for an artist. The idea was to preserve the existing mews building and to place two 'pavilions' in the old garden, making a distinct separation between old and new. The 'pavilions' adopt different but complementary forms - the cube, with its roof garden, occupies the wider site, the long rooflit studio occupies the narrower site. The lving and studio spaces are placed at first floor level to enjoy the light and the view over Herbert Park.
