Western - Over £200,000

The Red Church had many proposals for the rejuvenation which were unrealised for reasons of cost. A private developer undertook a restoration and change of use on condition that a substantial office building could be achieved in the adjoining church courtyard.

At the architect's suggestion, an additional piece of land was acquired. This allowed the creation of a new courtyard ( over basement carpark), enclosed by the new office building, the church and the existing trees on the street frontage.

The brick skin of the street facade attempts to bring order to a very confused streetscape, while the courtyard facades of curtain walling contrast sharply with the Victorian redbrick Gothic of the existing church.
