The interior of O'Mahony's Bookshop is clearly visible through its elegant new glass frontage, allowing its colourful multi layered spaces to present an exciting, welcoming image to the street.
The ingenious connection of floor levels gives vertical dimension to the long horizontal structure and permits light to percolate through the deep interior.
Accessible and lively, this modern bookshop encourages participation in the world of reading.
Architect's Comment
To increase area on the confined site the accomodation is staggered vertically. The resultant spatial interplay is augmented by strategic natural lighting unifying and communicating the interior to the street, through the contemporary shopfront.
Client's Comment
The simple functional but dramatic spaces provide the perfect backdrop for book selling. The open floors, easily administered, induce customers in and through the shop by their bright airy ambience.
