This new block of apartments in the heart of London Docklands is a fine example of building within the docklands context without resorting to pastiche. The form of the building in brick and steel is well poropprtioned with crisp detailing. The plan is simple and symmetrical and allows three apartments off each stairwell. Each apartment has a balcony maximising daylight and views.
Architects' Comments
The brick and steel aesthetic of the dockside is reflected in these apartments which have open plan layouts and full height windows, maximising on daylight and the site's excellent views.
Client's Comment
Dollar Bay has been a very successful development for us. The building works well and was economical to build yet is modern, quietly elegant and appropriate to its context.
