The restaurant is entered through a renovated listed Georgian house via an inner hall which acts as a link between the old and new buildings. The main dining area is a serene and beautifully lit vaulted space which is at once coolly modern and luxurious, and is expressive of the ethos of this first-class restaurant.
Architect's Comments
Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud is located at no.21 Merrion Street within the recently completed Merrion Hotel. The brief for the restaurant included a dining area for 60 to 70 people, a private dining room, lounge, reception area and service facilities.
Client's Comments
17 years ago Arthur Gibney was asked to design my original restaurant. The success of the design was certainly part of the success of Patrick Guilbaud - so it was only logical that when we decided to move to 21 Merrion Street that I asked Arthur to design the new restaurant.
It was a very difficult project to marry the old and new......while keeping a touch of the old Guilbauds as well.
