This project offers a robust approach to dealing with an older building more in keeping with mainland Europe than with recent, more timorous, examples in England and Ireland. The original Courthouse proper has been restored in its original building language and detail. A yard and outbuilding have been rebuilt as a museum. A hull-shaped mezzanine has been dramatically inserted into this new space. This has resulted in the creation of a dynamic tension with lively spatial, lighting and tactile effects from the subtle organic shape and materials chosen.
